Path of the Tainted

Unleash your Chaos!

The corruption spreads across the lands. It afflicts anything it touches. While others are lost, destroyed and driven mad by it, there are also those who manage to wield it as a weapon. They are the ones who follow… the Path of the Tainted.

In “Path of the Tainted” players are powerful adventurers, who wield the forces of chaos. The corruption provides them with unique abilities, but it may also be their ultimate demise. Inspired by video aRPGs like “Path of Exile”, players will slay hordes of monsters to acquire powerful loot and abilities. But most importantly they will be able to create their own Powers by combining them with upgrades.

For example, 2 players may have the Power “Lighting Shot”, but depending on their choices it will function differently:

• Player A may have attached the “Empowering” and “Rejuvenating” Support Powers to have the shot being used as a buff skill (Extra Harm on the next attack and regain HP)
• Player B may have “Multiplied” and “Explosive” to deal their harm to as many enemies as possible.

Features

• Simple resolution mechanic using only d6s. The outcomes being Miss, Partial or Full Success and Critical
• Quick character creation. Make your first “Tainted” in a couple of minutes. You just need 3 Attributes, a weapon and a power
• Unique Power combinations. Create your own Powers using the Support Powers system
• Narrative-driven, Combat focused, tactical-lite gameplay
• The aRPG Loop: unleash your powers, slay terrifying monsters, get loot, power up, rinse and repeat!
• Battle with your inner Corruption. The more you give in to the chaos the greater your powers, but how far will you go?
• Nightmarish Monsters and Powerful Bosses. Also, ideas to make your own
• Randomized Weapons and Armor as Loot. Craft them to your taste

“Path of the Tainted” is inspired by LUMEN (by Gila RPGs), as well as Games Powered by the Apocalypse and Forged in the Dark.
